Pine Point Beach Extended Family Session | Scarborough, Maine | Maine Family Photographer | Stepheney Collins Photography

I’m a big believer in extended family sessions. These sessions are like family sessions, except you invite your siblings and your parents to join you on the beach or in the field or at your vacation home. I know they are a little more difficult to plan, and you’re dealing with a few extra opinions about the location, time, and outfit choices, but man are they worth the extra effort. (They also make great Mother’s Day, Christmas and birthday gifts for grandparents!)

These photos may not be the most glamorous, nor the most creative, but they may in fact be some of the most important. That’s because these photos are a snapshot of some of the most important people in your family from a moment in time. And aside from getting together for formal portraits at a wedding, it’s probably been a while since you had that big group photo taken. There’s probably even a new little family that hasn’t even been in a group photo before. So the next time your family gets together, think about hiring a photographer to come capture some memories for you. The photos you’ll get will be a part of your family’s legacy and photographic history, and something tells me you and your kids are going to love to look back at them many years from now.

I’m excited to share this fun Pine Point Beach extended family session on the blog today! Sarah, Jessie, and their mom are like a second family to me and when Sarah asked if I would meet them at the beach for a family session while their mom was visiting from Germany, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. Sarah chose Pine Point for the location because that beach is her mom’s happy place and we somehow managed to fit the session in between those super rainy days in early July. Here are a few of my favorites!
